Hot Rocks soon to fire up Cold Beers

One of Australia’s most famous outback pubs is on the verge of having its beers chilled
using geothermal energy.
Geodynamics, the largest ASX-listed company whose focus is on developing hot
fractured rock geothermal electricity, is preparing to light up the South Australian town
of Innamincka.
Home to only 12 people but visited by 50,000 tourists per year, the small community
that borders Geodynamics’ geothermal tenements in the Cooper Basin is currently
powered by diesel.
Geodynamics intends to provide geothermal power to Innamincka in early 2009,
enabling the tiny town to kick a minimum $15,000 a month diesel fuel habit.
The famous Innamincka Hotel, historically a popular stopover for shearers, mining
contractors and even international explorers, is preparing to serve icy cold beers chilled
using hot rock geothermal energy.
